Pre & Post Natal Massage

Massage Therapy during and after pregnancy can serve as a crucial adjunct to standard pre-natal care.  Unlike a physician, a certified massage therapist has the opportunity to spend a full hour (or more) with a pregnant client, during which time multiple issues which arise from the changes of pregnancy can be addressed. These include, but are not limited to, physical stresses often experienced by the pregnant client, including postural/ligamentous changes which can result in new or worsened somatic (bodily) pain. In the post natal period, massage therapy can address additional postural changes and concerns typical for mothers, such as the physical stress that can result from carrying young children and/or from breast or bottle feeding. Massage Therapy during and after pregnancy can also aid in the healing of stretch marks, caesarian scars, and in recovery from stretching of abdominal  tissue which occurs during pregnancy and delivery.  Please note: Private yoga instruction as an adjunct to pre or post natal massage helps to promote strength, stability and balance in the new or expectant mother and to address specific issues (such as pelvic floor weakness or dysfunction) before and after delivery.
